I am a sucker for new products at Trader Joe’s. Every so often I will check their website for new product listings, then quickly making a list of everything I need to buy next time I go. They also do a very good job of posting their new products on their Instagram. During my last checkup on the product listings page, I came across their new Joe Joe’s Slims. A thinner, crispier, version of their original Trader Joe’s Joe Joes. I love Oreos, I love Joe Joe’s so naturally I thought that I would enjoy the slim version.
This is a box of the new Joe Joe’s Slims. The packaging is very inviting and really did make me want to purchase a box for myself. As advertised, Trader Joe’s promises the “Same delicious flavor”. I had very high expectations for the same delicious cookies for half the amount of calories. Upon tasting, my first impression was yes, very crispy, but what is this strange taste? It was almost chemical like. I tried a few more to make sure I was getting the right bite, I gave to my friends to try. We all thought the same thing, it was not the same as the original Trader Joe’s Joe Joe. The small thing creme cookies had a slight taste of minerals, that left a bad after taste on my palette. I was really hoping to love this product, but do not think I will be purchasing in the future. The cookies are in stock at Trader Joe’s stores now, with a 10.9 ounce box on sale for $1.99.
